Dr. Khandwala’s trip to Belgium, a grand success!
Dr. Khandwala was recently invited to speak at the 1st Urogynecology symposium conducted by the Obstetrics and Gynecology Society of Belgium. There were only two faculty members present who are not part of the Belgium group. Dr. Khandwala was the only American and the other member was from France.

Anticholinergic Therapy vs. OnabotulinumtoxinA for Urgency Urinary Incontinence:
An NIH double blinded randomized clinical trial
Published in New England Journal of Medicine Nov 2012 pp 1-11
This multi-centric study involved 250 patients who were randomly assigned to receive oral medication or Botox in the bladder for overactive bladder. The study was blinded in that neither the doctors nor the patients knew what they were getting. Although the success of the two arms was similar, Botox was noted to have a twofold greater cure for urge incontinence than medications. Moreover, almost 50% of the women continued to have satisfactory improvement 1 year following the bladder Botox therapy.
