FACTS ABOUT STRESS URINARY INCONTINENCE (SUI)
DID YOU KNOW:
- Stress incontinence (SUI), the commonest type of leakage condition, affects 1 in 3 women and happens due to coughing, sneezing or some type of physical exertion
- This usually affects the younger age women ( 30’s-50’s) as they are usually more active and doing physical activities such as zumba, jumping jacks etc.
- A common misperception is that women are embarrassed to talk about this. The main problems have been the lack of awareness of the recent treatment options, the fear of “bladder suspensions”, the false image of slings on TV by the lawyers and the slick ads about pads such as Poise and Depends by the companies that make them.
- We have perfected a special procedure for SUI called DISST. This is done entirely under local anesthesia, takes about 30′ to perform and patients go home in 1 hour after the procedure without any pain. There is no catheter used and women can return to work the next day.
Our results with the DISST technique is 99% cure with 0% complications. The best results of others for any type of SUI treatment is 85% cure with about 5-10% risk of complications.
