Dr Khandwala who is the Medical Director oversees two separate divisions: Advanced Urogynecology of Michigan P.C. (AUGM) and Michigan Institute of Women’s Health P.C. (MIWH).
Advanced Urogynecology of Michigan P.C. (AUGM) is the clinical practice that is involved with direct patient care. It is the Center of Excellence for the management of female pelvic floor disorders such as Urinary conditions, bowel conditions, vaginal bulge and vaginal dryness/pain. Urinary conditions include leakage problem, bladder urgency/frequency, bladder pain, frequent bladder infections (UTI) etc. Bowel disorders include Accidental Bowel Leakage, Constipation. The vaginal bulge or prolapse conditions are managed without a hysterectomy. Vaginal dryness especially in postmenopausal women is managed with medications or MonaLisa Touch laser treatment. MonaLisa Touch is an office procedure that takes 5-10 minutes to perform and dramatically impacts vaginal function. We have one of the largest series in Vaginal Reconstructive surgery for the management of prolapse in the country and are one of the few certified sites in the world that perform incontinence surgery in the office entirely under local anesthesia. Most pelvic floor conditions can be managed in the office.
Michigan Institute of Women’s Health P.C. (MIWH) is the research division that conducts clinical trials in the field of Pelvic Medicine. MIWH is involved in several National Institute of Health (NIH), multicenter and single center clinical trials. We strongly believe in evidence-based practice. Our robust research division tracks patient data to help understand our outcomes so that we can better manage our patients.
